The man was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a statement.
Crowsnest Fire and Rescue, Fish and Wildlife Service, Search and Rescue and STARS Air Ambulance assisted police in rescuing the man.
“Regardless of experience level, when exploring the wilderness, an SOS device is an essential tool for anyone who may encounter an emergency,” the press release states. “It is the most reliable way to call for help after suffering an injury in an isolated area. Be sure to let others know your planned route, along with your time of departure and approximate return time.”
