Hoka’s rise to fame in just 15 years is the stuff of legend, something few shoe brands have ever achieved. During that time, numerous running shoe models were released, including Bondi, Clifton, and Speedgoat, and are still available from Hoka today. However, in the latest release, it seems that the discontinued running model “Elevon” will be revived. The shoe makes its triumphant return as the Elevon X, but instead has a new purpose as an everyday lifestyle shoe. Let’s take a look.
Erebon of yesteryear
In 2018, Hoka introduced a new running shoe model called the Elevon. Despite its popularity, the Elevon has only existed for two generations, the last of which arrived in 2020. In hindsight, it felt like a cross between old discontinued models like the Vanquish and models like the Tekton X that are still available today. around it.
The Elevon 2 seemed to fix a lot of what was missing in the first shoe. One is the removal of the hard heel counter that made the 2018 model so difficult to ride on the road. Instead, the Erevon 2 landed much softer and even featured a new shark-fin-like sole design, presumably borrowed from the fallen Vanquish. And now the Elevon X seems to be bringing back that style as well, but with some changes to its construction.

Hoka Elebon X
Designed to resemble a walking shoe from a visual and construction POV, the Erebon Nubuck leather upper and full-grain leather mudguard. It also features a translucent TPU heel counter for added stability and impact resistance. There was no information on the outsole material, but it appears to be a standard rubber material, albeit with lower lugs.
Hoka still states that the Elevon X is perfectly suited for both road and trail running, but the new sneaker seems to be more focused on versatility than anything else. After all, a good running shoe can double as a lifestyle/walking shoe. And the Elevon X has the styling to look the part.

Price and availability
At the moment, the Elevon X comes in both black and white colorway options, although it’s the latter that’s currently available from the European site. A release date for the U.S. market has not yet been determined, but given that it costs 200 euros (approximately $224) overseas, the price should be well over $200. Keep an eye on Hoka’s website for when this will be lifted.
Hoka Elebon X
Hoka is bringing back the discontinued Elevon running shoe as the Elevon X lifestyle shoe, keeping the style but adding just enough noteworthy newness.
