A couple who went for a test drive in a Tesla faced a terrifying ordeal with their 10-month-old child trapped inside the car.
Tesla allows customers to test drive their cars overnight and experience “life with a car.”
However, the couple found themselves regretting their decision when the car automatically locked when it was “stopped” with the key card left in the car, and their 10-month-old baby also jumped out.
Video footage taken by the baby’s mother showed emergency services arriving at the scene while her partner tried to seek advice from Tesla roadside assistance and the dealership.
The parents explained that they had taken the Tesla X home for a day to take a “demo” test drive and see if they liked the car, but the mother added, “We don’t like it.”

A baby’s cries could be heard after paramedics broke the driver’s side window and pulled him from the car.
They explained that they took a one-day “demo” test drive of the Tesla X to see if they liked the car, but the mother ultimately concluded that they “didn’t like it.”
Emergency services were seen breaking the driver’s side window and pulling it out as the baby, still trapped inside, cried out.
As paramedics went inside to get a key card to open the door, the father could be heard off-camera muttering, “Fuck you, Elon.”
“Luckily it was around 6 p.m. and the temperature wasn’t over 90 degrees anymore, but needless to say, I would never put my baby in a Tesla,” the mother wrote.

The couple said they got out of the car and immediately tried to remove their child from the back seat, when the Tesla automatically locked and stopped.
Comments on the video were turned off, but the couple received a number of questions on another video about why they left their key card and child in the car.
The mother replied that many people did not intend to stop the car. After they got out of the car, she said she intended to close the door and remove the child from the back seat.
But before they could do that, the car automatically locked and stopped, she added in a response video: “There’s a place to put the card and it’s basically the car should be turned on.” It tells the car…that’s why the key is there.”
One commenter wrote, “Why did you leave your child inside if you forgot your card?”
She reiterated in another video that she planned to remove the child from the back seat, leave the car alone, and continue looking at the car.
“Remember, this is the car we were going to buy… it turned itself off and got locked right away,” she said.
Comments came and went, questioning how they got into this situation.
One person wrote: “It still hasn’t been explained why I left my keycard in the car…When I get out of the car while still in the car and want to open the back door, I either take the key out or… Make sure at least one key is down.’
To which she replied, “For others asking the same thing, I’ll answer this.” lol. Those keys were in the “ignition” slot that kept the car turned on. I hope this helps. ”
However, other viewers say this is not a one-off incident, and other articles have surfaced saying they have encountered the same issue.
“It’s crazy because you’re not a first time mom for something like this to happen to you. I literally saw on the news a mom whose Tesla also got locked up while charging with baby in the back seat,” one person wrote .
The couple wanted their car back that night, but no matter how many times they called, they couldn’t, and they didn’t bother covering the windows because they were “traumatized enough.”
However, the Tesla said it was “very sorry” even though it was returned without windows after it sustained more damage from the overnight storm.
A commenter asked if the couple were held responsible for the window pane, to which the couple’s account replied, “No, they were not.” They felt so bad about the situation that they didn’t care about the car or the windows anymore. ”
The mother said the situation “becomes a safety issue for the manufacturer,” but added, “I don’t want to say I blame Tesla completely, because yes, there are ways to prevent this from happening.” he added.
She continued: “But if you have a demo car and you don’t have an app, it’s not available. There aren’t that many options and it’s just ridiculous.”
