A total of 34 senators have voted in support of a preliminary objection raised by Kericho Governor Eric Mutai’s lawyer to the impeachment by the county assembly.
Mutai’s lawyers had argued that the county assembly did not meet the two-thirds threshold when it impeached him.
Approximately 31 out of 47 MCAs voted to impeach the county chief, who said the Legislature needs to gather 32 votes to impeach him.
34 people supported the no vote and 10 people voted against it. There were no abstentions.
