Growing up in Calabasas, an upscale suburb of Los Angeles, California, home to celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Will Smith, Jasveen Sangha seemed on a path to success that would make his parents proud.
A friend told The Post that she was “meticulous and studious” in high school. “Her parents ran a franchise business. She went to a prestigious school, UC Irvine, then went to England to get her MBA.”
But in March, after he was arrested on charges of being a “large-scale drug trafficker,” his mother had to post bail for the 41-year-old on $100,000 bail.
Now she’s accused of selling a lethal dose of ketamine to “Friends” star Matthew Perry.
Former federal prosecutor Neama Rahamani previously told The Washington Post that Sangha was “in great difficulty right now… facing possible life in prison.”
Longtime friends say that when Jasveen returned to Los Angeles in 2010 after earning an MBA from London’s Hult Business School, she was a different girl from the one they knew.
She “looked completely different than she did in high school,” says one old friend, “like she’d had a nose job and other changes to her face.”
But she still ran her business the right way.
“Before she got into drugs, she started a nail salon,” the friend said. The business failed.
As a friend recalled, Sangha was left behind by her peers. Around 2015, “Most of the people she grew up with were working professionals. They had relationships and kids.”
Meanwhile, Sangha was “partier and more excessive on weekends.”
Apparently running out of options, she tried her hand at being a party promoter. “She had a lot of connections and was hanging out with a group of girls,” the friend said. “They were calling themselves Hello Kitty-related names.”
Among her friends was Perla Hudson, who was married to Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash from 2001 to 2018. Photos posted to Instagram show Sangha and Hudson standing next to a private jet and in exotic locations, as well as Perla and Hudson’s model son, London Hudson, attending an event at Sotheby’s in Beverly Hills.
On social media, Hudson described Sangha as “the best buddy I’ve ever had.”
Other photos show Sangha with Charlie Sheen and DJ Khaled, according to The Sun.
However, a friend said around 2014, “She had a significant other but it didn’t work out. Friends think it was loneliness that led her to turn to the partying world. She likes company and being around people.”
He described her apartment as “clean, had a Peloton bike and her beloved dog. She hosted kickback parties there and invited a few people over to listen to music and hang out.”
“Drugs are part of everyday culture. Jasbeen was never at a party where drugs were the norm. She had access to them so it seemed like a viable option,” the friend claimed. “She had access to liquid ketamine.”
Sangha’s lawyer declined to comment.
According to TMZ, Sangha met Perry and Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife, Brooke Mueller, at a Los Angeles-area rehab facility. (Neither Mueller nor Perla Hudson have been accused of drug use or other wrongdoing in connection with Sangha.)
Bob Forrest, a Los Angeles addiction specialist who appeared on “Celebrity Rehab” with Drew Pinsky, told The Washington Post that some people in rehab will turn to drugs in the future.
“Sometimes you go to rehab with people who have access to better drugs, cheaper drugs, whatever,” he said.
But friends said Sangha had not bragged about his stockpiles.
“To me, she was like a middleman. She gave me the ketamine and asked me to send her the money via Venmo.”
