PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) – The Colorado State Fair starts next Friday, but some are wondering how to have fun and not spend too much money — and whether they can go safely.
Currently, buying an unlimited-ride Carnival wristband costs $32, but if you wait until the fair starts, it’ll cost just $40. You can also buy a Mega Pass before opening day for $160, which gets you admission every day of the fair and unlimited rides every day. These are just a few of the many ways organizers say you can save money this year.
After the fair begins, there are also special deals, such as Tuesday, August 27th, when you can get in for free if you bring two canned food items. Similarly, on Wednesday, August 28th, a $15 fee will get you into the fair as well as unlimited access to all the carnival rides.
Annual sales like “Back to School Day” will be back this year, and students will get free admission to the State Fair.
State Fair General Manager Scott Stohler told 11News the cost of the fair hasn’t changed significantly over the past few years.
“We have not increased interest rates this year.
“We actually increased our rates two years ago and have been able to maintain them. Labor costs are our biggest year-over-year cost increase, but our current pricing structure gives us enough room to not have to increase our rates.”
Stoller also touched on the safety aspect of the fair, saying it is an extremely safe place.
“There will definitely be a large security presence during the fair, with police officers on duty 24 hours a day and walk-behind weapon detectors at the gates to make sure no dangerous items are being brought in.
“The State Fair is one of the most secure locations per square foot during the fair.”
Just to remind you, the State Fair runs from August 23rd to September 2nd.
