Udhampur (Jammu and Kashmir):
After Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khwaja Asif said Pakistan and the Congress Party coalition were on the same page about restoring Article 370 of the Constitution, Congress leader Farooq Abdullah on Thursday said he did not know what Pakistan was talking about.
“I don’t know what Pakistan is saying. I am not a Pakistani but an Indian citizen,” he told ANI.
Regarding the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, everything will be clear before the people on October 8, he said.
“Just wait till October 8 and everything will become clear. The first thing I will do is to revive the durbar movement. Both of us suffered losses because of the durbar movement. In winters, people used to go there for durbar movement. There was a nexus with Jammu and Kashmir. In summers, they used to come here to complete their work. Ask people how much loss they suffered because of the durbar movement,” he said.
Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party had slammed the Indian National Congress-Bharatiya Janata Party alliance after Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khwaja Asif said the two parties were on the same page when it came to restoring Article 370 in the Union Territory.
BJP leader Amit Malviya wrote in a post on X, “The terrorist state of Pakistan supports the Indian National Congress and Indian National Congress’s stand on the Kashmir issue. Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said in Geo News’ Hamid Mir’s Capital Talks, “Pakistan and the Indian National Congress-Indian National Congress coalition are in agreement on restoring Article 370 and 35A in Jammu and Kashmir.” Why is it that from Panmunj to Pakistan, Rahul Gandhi and his Indian National Congress are always seen as the side hostile to India’s interests?”
BJP spokesman Shehzad Poonawalla said, “The question is what to call the relationship between the BJP-NC and Pakistan. We know that the BJP-NC is constantly trying to join hands with Pakistan.”
Earlier, speaking to senior journalist Hamid Mir on Geo News’ Capital Talks, the Pakistani defence minister was asked whether Pakistan and the Congress Party were on the same page about restoring Articles 370 and 35A of the Constitution in Jammu and Kashmir. Khwaja Asif replied: “Of course. Our demands are the same…”
Pakistan’s defence minister also claimed that Article 370 could be reinstated if the NC-Congress coalition comes to power in J-K.
