This may please some people, as Indy God Matt Cardona has revealed that he wants to end his career with WWE.

It’s been four years since Zack Ryder was fired by WWE, and unlike other fan-favorite superstars, Ryder has yet to return to WWE. His wife recently returned to the company, and with Chelsea Green returning, many fans assumed it was only a matter of time before the former Long Island Iced Z returned.
However, Zack Ryder is dead. The man behind Ryder has said so many times. Matt Cardona spent a lot of time reinventing himself after his release. He’s now an Indie God, the face of GCW, and probably the greatest free agent wrestler ever (at least in the men’s locker room; Becky Lynch is still around).
There is new hope.

Cardona gave fans even more hope in an interview with Sports Illustrated. He detailed what he’s been up to before and after his time with WWE. He said he definitely wants to return to WWE. He wants to have another WrestleMania moment. He wants to perform at Madison Square Garden again. Cardona was candid and to the point. He won’t be returning as a wrestler, but he does want to return and finish his career with WWE.

There were other interesting comments. Like many superstars, he has missed out on the big title of the World Championship. But Matt Cardona said in an interview that he (now not with WWE) feels closer to the WWE World Title than ever before. From a status standpoint, I agree. Like Cody Rhodes, Matt Cardona’s career in WWE peaked and he needed to leave. And like Rhodes, Cardona had amazing success on the independent scene, breaking out of the previous mold they stuck to. The reborn Cardona is one of the best. Adding him to WWE would be a great move.
