There was a moment at Monday night’s Home Run Derby that was talked about even before the game started.
Grammy-nominated artist Ingrid Andress sang the national anthem at the game in Arlington, Texas on July 15, but viewers on social media called her rendition “one of the worst.”

“My ears were bleeding,” one viewer wrote to X. “One of the worst performances of the national anthem ever.”
“Well that wasn’t it,” another wrote.
“I’m so sorry. I think Ingrid Andress is a great person but I think that was one of the worst national anthems I’ve ever heard in my life,” wrote X-user Alex Kerr.
On Tuesday, Andres responded to the intense criticism on Instagram, revealing that he was intoxicated during the performance and that he would be checking into rehab.

“What happened last night was not me,” she said in a statement. “I apologize to MLB, all of my fans and the country I love for that performance.”
Many on social media were quick to compare the performance to singer Fergie’s national anthem performance at the 2018 NBA All-Star Game, when the singer drew widespread criticism for her slower, jazz-inspired rendition.
“Fergie watches Ingrid Andress take the title of worst national anthem ever,” one viewer tweeted on Monday.
“With all due respect and sincerity, this is the worst national anthem I have ever heard. Fergie would have been better,” wrote another.
Andress is a singer-songwriter who has released numerous hit songs and two albums since her first hit single, “More Hearts Than Mine,” reached No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2020. She has been nominated for a Grammy Award four times throughout her career, most recently for her 2021 song “Wishful Drinking,” which she sang with Sam Hunt. Her next single, “Colorado 9,” is currently scheduled for release on July 24.
