All flights from Iranian airports were canceled from Sunday until 6 a.m. local time on Monday due to “flight restrictions,” according to reports.
Iranian state media quoted a spokesperson for Iran’s Civil Aviation Authority, who announced the flight cancellation.
State media said the flight was canceled due to operational restrictions, but no further details were provided.
Iran imposed flight restrictions last Tuesday when it fired a barrage of ballistic missiles at Israel, an attack that Israel has vowed to counter.
Last week, Iran attacked Israel with 181 missiles, which followed an Israeli airstrike in September that killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut, Lebanon, and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in July. The regime claimed it was revenge for the killing.
Meanwhile, since the Israel-Hamas war began on October 7, Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon have exchanged attacks with Israel.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday called on Western leaders to call for an arms embargo on Israel over airstrikes against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
“All civilized nations should stand firmly on Israel’s side as it fights barbaric forces led by Iran, but President Macron and other Western leaders are now calling for an arms embargo against Israel. They should be ashamed,” Prime Minister Netanyahu said in a statement.
