Issa Rae, Lucy Liu, Aly Raisman, Christy Turlington and Ming Xi are global ambassadors for Stuart Weitzman. The five women star in the shoe company’s upcoming campaign film, “How Lovely to Be a Woman,” directed by Matvey Fikus and featuring a remixed version of the song of the same name from the 1963 film “Bye Bye Birdie.” The campaign was photographed by Ned Rogers.
“Stuart Weitzman has a wonderful history of iconic brand ambassadors wearing our most iconic shoes. As we look to the future and move the brand forward, it’s important to us to draw inspiration from today’s consumer while honoring and celebrating the brand’s heritage,” Kaycee May O’Reilly, Stuart Weitzman’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer, told WWD.

“The Stuart Weitzman woman literally does it all – she has a career, a family, hobbies and passions, does big things and small things and makes progress all the time – with style! So it was important to us to shine a spotlight on the grit and perseverance of our women by also choosing an ambassador who defines the well-rounded woman of today,” O’Reilly said.

All five women are multitalented individuals who represent the breadth and depth of femininity. Among the women collaborating with Stuart Weitzman, this campaign marks the first global fashion campaign for Peabody Award winner and Sienna Naturals co-owner Issa Rae.

“Each of these five women – Ally, Christy, Issa, Lucy and Ming – embodies strength and confidence. They all started out in the same field, experienced successes and setbacks, and continued to push themselves to reach greater heights,” O’Reilly said. “We hope that when consumers see these women who represent Stuart Weitzman, they can emotionally connect, see themselves, and maybe even tap into the strength they already have and gain the confidence to keep going.”
