Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck aren’t expected to have any awkward moments on the red carpet.
While the pair may be ending their marriage, they continue to do business together in business, with Affleck producing Lopez’s next film, “Unstoppable.”
Page Six has heard that the divorced pair will avoid a red carpet reunion at the Toronto International Film Festival, where their project will premiere in two weeks.
Lopez has a supporting role in the film, which is produced by Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company, Artists Equity.
Sources say Lopez will be at the Canadian Film Festival for the film’s premiere on September 6, but Affleck will not be attending.
Either way, reporters may be questioning Lopez, 55, about the couple’s breakup while promoting the film.
The actress had previously denied questions about her marital status during a panel discussion for her previous film, “Atlas,” in Mexico City in May.
“You know that,” she said, smiling briefly, in a video she posted to Instagram during the Netflix film’s press tour.
“Unstoppable” is based on the inspiring true story of one-legged wrestling champion Anthony Robles and will be directed by William Goldenberg, the editor behind Affleck’s 2012 hit “Argo” and the 2023 film “Air.”
Lopez plays Robles’ mother in the film, which also stars Jharrel Jerome, Michael Peña and Don Cheadle.
According to the Daily Mail, some of the film’s producers are “pushing for the pair to appear together at the Toronto premiere to generate buzz for the movie.”
But I’ve heard that’s not going to happen.
Vanity Fair recently wrote about Lopez landing the role in the film, “The fact that Lopez is married to Affleck didn’t help matters, but Goldenberg is adamant that it had little bearing on her casting.”
“She had to be someone who had lived life, and I thought Jennifer was one of the few actresses who could play the role,” the director said.
“I think she was just perfect for the role, and we were lucky that he happened to be marrying the person we’d always wanted.”
This isn’t the former couple’s only Hollywood project: Lopez recently finished filming Kiss of the Spider Woman, which Affleck and Damon produced, also for Artists Equity.
Lopez will star in and also serve as executive producer on the project, which is based on the 1993 Broadway musical.
Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on August 20, their second wedding anniversary. The official separation date on paper is April 24.
TMZ reports that the couple does not have a prenuptial agreement.
