Jennifer Lopez reportedly feels “relieved” after filing for divorce from Ben Affleck, despite not wanting to end their two-year marriage.
“It was extremely hard on her that Ben chose to walk away from their marriage and leave her behind to move on with his own life,” a source told People magazine on Monday.
“She didn’t want a divorce. She wanted to work things out. They love each other. Jennifer is not the type to give up easily. The wait was almost like torture for her.”
A source said the “On the Floor” singer “seems relieved” since filing divorce papers in Los Angeles last week.
“Her family and friends agree that it was the right decision,” the source continued, explaining that Jennifer Lopez will be fine because she’s “surrounded by so much love and support” and “she’s strong and she always wins.”
Lopez, 55, has not been seen in public since officially splitting from Affleck, 52, on the second anniversary of their Georgia wedding.
The singer filed for divorce without the help of an attorney and listed the date of separation as April 26th.
Meanwhile, Affleck has been photographed out and about in Los Angeles and was seen looking in ecstasy while picking up his Jack in the Box order from a delivery driver at his rented home in Brentwood, Calif. on Saturday.
The same day, a source told Page Six that the “Argo” star has been spending time with Kick Kennedy.
Affleck and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s 36-year-old daughter were reportedly spotted hanging out at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel and other popular spots in Los Angeles.
According to photos obtained by TMZ, Affleck appeared to be in high spirits as he dined with his best friend Matt Damon and his “Bourne Ultimatum” star wife Luciana at Italian restaurant Tuscany on Sunday.
According to Entertainment Tonight, the actor relied on his “Good Will Hunting” co-star to help him get over his breakup with Lopez.
A source previously told Page Six that Affleck hated his ex-husband’s public lifestyle, which was hard on him.
The former couple’s marital problems began after they were followed by paparazzi around Lake Como in Italy during their honeymoon in August 2022, they said.
“He wasn’t happy about being followed by the paparazzi,” the source said, “and he acted like he was surprised they were following her because she’s an international superstar.”
Lopez and Affleck gave their relationship another shot in 2021 after breaking off their engagement in the early 2000s.
A source recently told Page Six that their breakup left the “Marry Me” star “humiliated” after “he asked to get back together.”
Lopez also produced a documentary based on her relationship with Affleck, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” which will be released on Amazon Prime in 2024.
The “Gigi” co-stars eloped in Las Vegas in July 2022, one month before tying the knot in Georgia.
