Jerry Jones had nothing to celebrate his 82nd birthday. The Cowboys humiliated a team coached by one of his former players, Dan Campbell, 47-9.
It was the Cowboys’ worst home loss since 1988, the year before Jones bought the team, and tied for the largest run differential of Jones’ tenure. The Cowboys also lost by 38 points to Green Bay in 2010 and Philadelphia in 2008.
“It’s disappointing for our fans, it’s disappointing for everyone who is or was a member of the Dallas Cowboys, and it gives (us) great resolve,” Jones said. Ta. “But the important thing to think about here is we’ve been playing this six games in a row. We’re 3-3. There are times early in the season when you don’t like the situation you’re in. We don’t like where we are. There’s a lot of work to be done.”
The Cowboys have lost four straight home games, their last win at AT&T Stadium coming on Dec. 30 against the Lions (20-19). They lost to the 49ers in the playoffs, becoming the only home team to lose. Their home winning streak ended at 16 in this card round, but they have lost to the Saints, Ravens, and Lions at home this year.
To make matters worse, the Cowboys have given up 167 points in their last four home games, the third-most by a home team in NFL history, according to ESPN Research.
“Everyone knows you’re supposed to feel better when you’re home,” Jones said. “I think that’s an advantage. You don’t travel. You sleep in your own bed. That should be an advantage at home and that’s one of the first things you look at. ‘OK, the other team Why aren’t we playing better when we have an advantage against them?’We can start the morning in a familiar place. That’s something to think about. Generally speaking, my message is, I know you don’t need to listen to me, but I’m very aware that we’re in the proverbial “hole” right now. I think it means that. ”
After the Cowboys’ off week, they will travel to San Francisco and Atlanta before returning home to face the Eagles on November 10th. The Cowboys are 3-0 on the road this year.
