Oscar-winning actress Jessica Chastain is under fire on social media for dumping JetBlue over a $15 in-flight entertainment credit.
The Zero Dark Thirty actress, 47, slammed X (formerly Twitter) in a since-deleted post after her “inflight entertainment system” malfunctioned during a six-hour flight.
“Thank you @JetBlue for the $15.00 credit. My flight was $1,500 and the credit is 1/100th of the money I paid you,” Chastain’s now-deleted tweet posted Wednesday said. Ta. “It’s strange that I paid for a flight entertainment system that didn’t work during a 6-hour flight, but I think the $15 credit was worth it.”
The star made sure to include a receipt with her tweets, but she didn’t stop there.
JetBlue apologized to Chastain via X, writing, “Sorry to disappoint you, Jessica.” Please send me a DM so I can look into this matter,” the actress said, including a screenshot of a conversation she had already had with the airline’s customer service.
When the service representative told Chastain that a $15 credit had been issued, she responded: I have a TrueBlue account and am a loyal customer, so I’m sure I have flight credits or something. ”
The “Molly’s Game” actress requested further action, but her agent told her, “We’re sorry, but there’s nothing more we can do.”
Ms. Chastain’s complaints drew criticism from online sleuths who vilified the actress, who recently listed her New York City home for $7.45 million, for publicly dragging her to the airline. Many accused her of being “tone-deaf” considering many Floridians lost everything in Hurricane Helen and Hurricane Milton.
One X user replied, “Read the room.” “Jessica Chastain is so embarrassed,” said another. A third joked that Chastain has become a “modern-day Princess Di” for “getting mad at the airline and calling it out on social media.”
But not everyone reacted negatively to Chastain’s tweet. Some users worked hard to reach the stars.
Author Louis Peitzman said, “If you were as famous as Jessica Chastain, there would be a lot of people who would tweet exactly like Jessica Chastain. I know that in my heart.”
“It’s good for celebrities to complain publicly,” said another, arguing that “airlines have no accountability for customer service, experience, or even basic things like punctuality.” .
The newspaper reached out to JetBlue and Chastain’s representatives.
