Donald Trump seems to still be upset over Jimmy Kimmel’s hosting performance at the Oscars earlier this year. At a rally in Pennsylvania, Trump called Kimmel an “idiot” and “one of the dumbest people in history,” recalling Kimmel reading one of his “Truth Social” posts before announcing the Best Picture award.
Kimmel, as per usual, didn’t take the criticism quietly. On last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, the host played footage from the rally and called out the insult, saying, “Isn’t that lovely? You’re mistaking me for one of your sons again.”
“Wow,” Kimmel continued, “Do you think he’s messing with me? What is this? When I die, I want this in the Emmy tribute montage. He even put my wife in there. Should I be concerned that Trump has mentioned my wife more this year than he has mentioned his rallies? The Oscars was over six months ago. He’s still bothered by this joke! He brings it up all the time and I don’t mind it at all. In fact, I love it. I just hope he quotes it right.”
Kimmel then called on his wife, Molly McNearney, to offer some advice to Trump. The Emmy Award winner, who appeared wearing a shirt that read, “Aren’t you in jail already?”, used the opportunity to debate the current US abortion ban. “Because of you, women in 21 states cannot make their own choices about their lives and their own bodies,” she noted. She added, “My advice to you is to shut up and get out. Get away. … Leave it to the competent women.”
During the Oscars in March, Kimmel read live from the air an unhappy, nearly incomprehensible review of the show that Trump had posted to Truth Social. Kimmel read the post in its entirety, commenting, “Hasn’t he served his prison time?” Trump has been furious about the incident ever since, and apparently has never been able to forget it.
In April, during the trial, Trump revisited Kimmel’s joke, mistaking the comedian for Oscar-winning actor Al Pacino.

Editor’s Recommendation
“Idiot Jimmy Kimmel still hasn’t recovered from his terrible performance as host of the Oscars and the massive drop in viewership, especially when right before he stumbled announcing the biggest award of all, ‘Best Picture’, he read my truth on air about how terrible he did his job that night, displaying for the whole world the symptoms known as Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS),” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “This was a classic gaffe, one of the biggest in show business history. Plus, he forgot to say the famously obligatory line, ‘And the winner is,’ instead stuttering as he opened the envelope.”
Unfortunately for Trump, it was Pacino who was tasked with announcing Best Picture, skipping the usual list of nominees and rudely declaring Oppenheimer the winner. Of course, Kimmel was ecstatic, saying on Jimmy Kimmel Live, “Don’t get me wrong, I wish I was Al Pacino, but no. He’s Al Pacino. I’m me. And he should know that, because I’m sure that when he said to Stormy Daniels, ‘Say hello to my little friend,’ that’s what got him into all this trouble.”
