Hollywood star Adam Sandler has received some health advice from an old friend on how to stay healthy and in shape.
The comedian appeared on Joe Rogan’s Spotify podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” where he spoke about neglecting his fitness regime and not loving his body.
Logan, who is known to be in good health and a fan of martial arts, advised the “Little Nicky” star to get healthy again, adding that it should be easy for Sandler “because he has the money.”
“From the age of 18 to 23, I tried really hard to hide it,” Sandler said. Rogan referred to the 2008 film “The Zohan,” in which Sandler played an Israeli counterterrorism commando turned hairdresser, adding that Sandler “was cool in the Zohan movie.”
“It was pretty good, really good,” Rogan added, to which Sandler replied, “It couldn’t have been better.” He said he might have to rehire the trainer who worked him on the Zohan movies.
“But it’s really hard right now. My kids, my daughter Sadie, are always saying, ‘Dad, take the train from Zohan. Why did you give that up? Why did you quit?'” Sandler said, adding that he told his daughter, “It’s hard work.”
“She’s right on all counts, but I don’t make any promises. I just say, ‘Let me think about it. That’s a good idea.'”
Rogan then offered some advice, with Sandler saying, “Just don’t overdo it at the beginning. Start slow, with what you can sustain, and work your way up.”
“So you set yourself new goals. The problem is that people try too hard. The key is to push your body to the limit, but not to the point of exhaustion.”
Logan added: “You’re not destroying your body, you’re just slowly strengthening it. Over time, your body will slowly start to get back into good shape.”
“People are trying too hard, they’re getting too carried away. It has to be sustainable.”
Logan talked about the concept of “cheat days,” which involves aiming to eat clean for a set number of hours each week, then designating days after that to eat whatever you want, and gradually reducing the number of cheat days as you start to feel better.
“You’ve got to stop this,” Sandler added about his tendency to not eat healthy, to which Rogan replied, “Yeah, if you’re really serious about this, hire somebody.”
“You’ve got money,” Logan said.
Sandler agreed, adding, “I got the best guy, the guy that hired me for Zohan. I love him. I just look at him and I love him so much that I’m like, ‘Let’s continue this friendship. I don’t want to ruin this friendship.'”
But Sandler has since been playing basketball five times a week, “which keeps me going,” he said, earning praise from Logan.
“I don’t want to take my shirt off (yet), but I’m out there playing four or five games a week,” Sandler said.
Logan responded: “That’s great. That’s a really good thing. And that’s the key, if you can find something that you really enjoy, that’s the best.”
