Anna Sui and John Fluevorg are reunited once again.
Designed for Anna Sui’s upcoming 25 Years of Resort collection, the two designers remade the boots they originally created together in the early ’90s.
Anna Sui fans will remember the butterfly appliqué boots created in collaboration with Fluevogue from her Spring 1993 show. “It was an instant hit,” Sui said. “And so many people look at the pictures in my book and say, ‘Why not do it again? They’re so great. ”Then when we were working on the Resort 25 collection, what we were doing clicked. ”
This time, Sui and Fluevog have created the Memento Chrysalis, seen in blue and black denim, which launches today. We also launched Softly Pirouette Mary Jane flats with embroidered butterfly appliqués. The shoes retail for $799 and $349, respectively.

“We speak the same language and John is very innovative with materials and what he can do,” Sui added. “These shoes become like treasures and people keep them for years. They make you feel special. And that’s why we dress and why we do what we do.” I think it’s very important what we choose to do. It’s our language, our vocabulary, the way we express ourselves without saying a word.”
Fluevog also today releases a new collection with musician Olivia Jean, furthering its collaboration. The zip-up platform ankle boots are inspired by Gene’s love of combat boots and the popular pink and black colorway.

“The name of the boot is called Standup,” Fluevorg explained. “Because it’s for women. It’s a sense of empowerment. It’s stand-up. Count. You have value. You are who you are. Stand up. You can move forward in them and it gives you a lot of energy.” I will give it to you.”
This style is available now and retails for $499.

In August, Fluevog expanded its selection by launching sneakers for the first time in 50 years of business. “I sell feelings and emotions more than I sell the shoe category,” Fluevorg told FN about why he waited to design the sneaker. “The biggest factor was price. For me, increasing accessibility is important. I don’t really want to think of it as a sneaker category, but as a price category.”
