The Office of Diversity and Inclusion invites early career staff professionals and administrators to participate in the Staff Mentoring Program. The initiative fosters a one-year partnership between early career staff and administrators. Mentees strengthen their knowledge of the organization, learn new approaches, and expand their network of colleagues. Mentors gain new perspectives and help shape the university’s future leaders.
Attendees will benefit from professional photography, instructional resources, educational opportunities, receptions, social gatherings, and more.
Gabriela Vázquez Jiménez, a management specialist in the Department of Public Administration and International Affairs at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, is the program’s first group of mentors. She says she has experienced significant personal growth, especially in her confidence and ability to connect with others.
“When I arrived, I was new to the university and to Syracuse, and I was mentored by Beth Wagner (associate director of budget and administration in the College of Arts and Sciences), a Syracuse native with over 20 years of experience at the university. The conditions were perfect for me,” says Vázquez Jiménez. “I highly recommend this program if you want to grow, learn more about the institution and its operations, and expand your network while connecting with a variety of learning opportunities.”
This program is open to all staff. Anyone who is a member of a marginalized identity is strongly encouraged to apply.
Apply or nominate a colleague. To be considered as a mentor or mentee, you must complete an application and submit a current resume. The deadline for all applications is Wednesday, October 23rd.
