Juliette Binoche, who played Coco Chanel in AppleTV+’s New Look, is now a fashion show regular, sitting front row at Courrèges’ early morning show during Paris Fashion Week.
The series, which follows the rivalry of designers against the backdrop of Nazi-occupied France, aired earlier this year and left viewers wanting more.
Binoche said production on a second season is underway.
“I don’t know exactly when it’s going to start, but they’ve been negotiating it for quite some time – far too long, in my opinion,” she said. “I don’t know when it’s going to be announced. They’re still working on it, but they’re still full steam ahead. I mean, they’re trying to get it done.”
Binoche said that playing Chanel has inspired her to attend more fashion shows: “This is the path that I follow in my journey,” she said of becoming a front-row regular over the past few seasons.
“I’m always wearing new clothes for my work and festivals. I love the different styles and spirits of different brands. I love Courrèges because it has a vintage feel and is well-structured. It’s always simple yet elegant.”
Playing Chanel also helped her understand the pressures a designer must balance creativity with business: “There’s a lot of pressure to create and sell and stay modern as fashion evolves,” she said.
Courrèges artistic director Nicola Di Felice presented a sonic feast with a rippling Lake of Beads that combined with the sensual minimalism of the monochrome to create wave-like sounds that enveloped the audience.
Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz also appeared at the show holding hands, and K-pop star Wooyoung of ATEEZ also made an appearance as a guest.
