The Azimuo leadership canceled rallies scheduled for Sunday in Kitengela and Mlolongo at the last minute.
Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka said the decision to cancel the rally was made abruptly after consultation following safety concerns.
Speaking at a press conference at a hotel in Kitengela, Kalonzo was joined by Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa, Jubilee Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni, former Kiambu governor Ferdinaldo Waititu, and politician Jimmy. Mr. Wanjigi, along with Kajiado Deputy Governor Martin Moshisho and others said this. “We were previously scheduled to attend Sunday services at the African Inland Church (AIC) Mlolongo, but according to information we have, DCI officers stormed the church this morning (Sunday) and attacked us. Wiper accused President William Ruto of trying to intimidate those who oppose his leadership.
“We are peaceful people so we don’t want to expose the people of Kitengela to chaos and tear gas. It is clear that the people of Kenya are not happy with his leadership. Why are they following us everywhere? “We’re going, but why?” Kalonzo asked.
Opposition leaders were at the scene to comfort the three Kitengela men – Bob Njagi, Jamil Longton and his brother Longton Aslam – who were said to have been abducted by police and released after being kept in isolation for a month. be done.
Kalonzo claimed the abduction was due to impunity by unscrupulous police officers who claimed to be on a mission to destroy the future of the country. Jamil and his brother Aslam were abandoned in Gachie, and Njagi was found in Togoto on the night of September 19th.
“We are here to condemn in the strongest possible terms the arrest of three young men, Bob Njagi, Jamil Longton and his brother Aslam. We are asking who else is allowed to handcuff people in Kenya, only the police, and that is why we are holding the police accountable for this action,” the Wiper boss said.
“They are responsible for efforts to diminish, dismantle and destroy the present and future of our beloved republic,” he added.
Kalonzo said the abductions were aimed at systematically restricting, abusing and silencing Kenyans’ constitutional right to free speech.
In response to this abhorrent act, Chioni revealed that the rebels plan to seek justice at the international level.
“We intend to seek intervention from an international tribunal and have advised our lawyer Paul Mwangi to begin the process,” Kioni said.
Wamalwa criticized President William Ruto’s leadership style, claiming the head of state was trying to take the country back to the dark days when government critics were rounded up by police and never seen alive again.
