As part of Coach’s homage to New York, New York native Ella Emhoff took to the catwalk during Fashion Week.
Fresh from her fashion show at the Democratic National Convention, the stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris walked down the Coach Highline runway wearing an “I Heart NY” T-shirt, a black leather mini skirt with a matching leather blazer, a baseball cap and pointy pumps.
Emhoff, 25, has become a fashion celebrity in recent years, running her own knitting club (now on hiatus) and modeling on numerous designer runways over the past few seasons.
At NYFW this week, she attended the Proenza Schouler, Tory Burch, and Collina Strada shows, as well as Susan Alexandra and Rachel Antonoff’s Dogpalooza.
But Coach was her first catwalk appearance at New York Fashion Week this season.
Alongside playful graphic tees, leather pieces, classic suiting and traditional denim, Coach’s spring/summer 2025 collection also featured a number of comically oversized bags in a variety of shapes, from typical backpacks and oversized pouches to giant, fluffy clutches in the shapes of hearts, lips and animals, some embellished with charms, words, icons and patch-like embellishments.
“My vision for spring was to showcase real clothes in real, relatable urban environments,” creative director Stuart Vevers said in a statement.
“But we are redesigning these clothes with the values of a new generation in mind who are discovering these clothes for the first time.”
Several pieces highlight the brand’s “(Re)Loved” program, including denim pants and moto skirts made from second-hand clothing and given new life.
“We took very archetypal pieces and made them unique for the wearer through proportion, styling and very playful embellishments that question traditional notions of ‘luxury,'” Vevers continued.
“I think what’s more valuable today is the personal.”
