Kiernan Shipka was one of the many celebrities who attended the Miu Miu show during Paris Fashion Week, and it was one of the people featured in the book.
“This was one of my favorite show-going experiences I’ve ever had, because there’s just an incredibly palpable energy that they bring out of it,” Shipka said. “I feel like there’s always a lot of anticipation and excitement at that show, and it was really great and the surprises were really fun. I mean, all the surprise guests were great. You could feel the energy and the show… You could actually see people’s jaws dropping throughout, which was great. It was really memorable.”
Surprises at the show included none other than Willem Dafoe walking the runway, and Shipka said experiencing it from the front row was as amazing as expected.
“There was a change. It was so cool. You could feel everyone panicking internally and maybe externally as well,” she said. “I frantically grabbed my phone as fast as I could and tried to take one last photo, but unfortunately the selfie camera was open.”
My favorite parts of the look were the different coats and belts.
“I can clearly see myself wearing it,” she said.
Shipka paired it with a shrunken letterman knit jacket, oxfords, and a brightly colored pencil skirt.
“I went into the fitting with no expectations at all as to what direction I was going to go in. I mean, I know I’ve always loved Miu Miu, and it feels kind of surprising. “I know that the vibe of the Miu Miu look can be expressed in many different ways,” she said. “And I didn’t really know what I was getting into, but I went in with an open mind. First I wore a skirt, then I saw a letterman jacket, and then I wore all that, and then I wore oxfords. I wore it and it felt like a classic Miu Miu look and feel.”
The color was what tied everything together.
“Some sunglasses, for some reason, give you an instant confidence boost when you wear them, and that particular pair of sunglasses has that energy,” she said.
Shipka is gearing up for a busy fall and winter, with films “The Last Showgirl,” “Red One” and “Sweethearts” all released.
“The next few months are very important. What’s been really fun about this particular week is that I’ve kind of realized that I can keep my eyes on certain things,” she said of Miu Miu. spoke. “I think we took a lot of general inspiration from the show because I think there’s a cool element that’s hard to explain in words, but it’s really there.”
