Kiki Palmer and Law Roach may have different visions, but there’s “always love” between them.
During a panel discussion Wednesday night for his new book, “How to Create a Fashion Icon: Notes on Confidence from the World’s Only Image Architect,” on sale now, the self-proclaimed “image architect” once said that Palmer I recalled the time when he said this. “Not the best stylist (for her).”
Despite their previous partnership “not really working out,” the two reunited to collaborate on Look shortly after Palmer became pregnant with their first child.
“It’s like, ‘Oh, let me show you my baby bump,'” Roach, 46, said in the room. “Even though I had all these clothes, I couldn’t get them to fit. Then one day she called me and said, ‘You may be the best stylist in the world, but I… “I’m not the best stylist.” I really liked it. ”
Palmer, 31, interjected lovingly as the crowd erupted in laughter. “Law is a struggle to survive!”
“I love it, I love it,” Roach agreed. But she was right. Because I had an idea in my mind of how I wanted to express her. I wanted her to be proud of her baby bump and show it off. ”
He continued, “And it was her personal prerogative, and she didn’t want to give it to the world yet. So I’ll always love you.”
Palmer announced that she gave birth to her first child, son Leodis Andrelton Jackson, in February last year. She shares a baby boy with Darius Jackson.
In July 2023, the “Nope” star opened up about her fashion transformation as she adjusted to her post-baby curves.
“Since having kids, I’ve become so powerful. I’m so strengthened in a crazy way. I enjoy strutting my stuff,” Palmer said in an interview with The Cut. The publication comes just days after Jackson publicly shamed Usher for wearing a curve-hugging dress to his concert.
“To be honest, I think I was pretty self-conscious even before I had kids.”
During Wednesday’s discussion, Palmer reflected on the evolution of her personal style, saying she doesn’t know if it’s “changed” with motherhood or if she’s “back to my usual self.” .
“I think this is one thing that I was always a serious kid,” she told the crowd. “I was always ready to go to the office.”
“I think as I got older, I was trying to understand the differences between myself and my character. And I wanted to try something different, to see if I was who I thought I was. “I wanted to try something new,” she continued.
“And while it was fun and fun, I think I always ended up going back to being the great boss that I always was. I’m ready to run a company, you know what I’m saying? ?
“I think it’s very black Americana and a little bit traditional because that’s who I am. There are some fun elements and props here and there, but it’s just for that ferocious bitch to take over. ”
