Kim Porter’s children with Sean “Diddy” Combs have spoken out in a new book and online against speculation about her death.
Quincy Brown, 33, his brother Christian, 26, and 17-year-old twins Jesse and Delilah Combs released a joint statement on social media about their mother, who died in 2018 at the age of 47.
Porter’s cause of death was determined to be pneumonia.
The tragedy has recently been brought back into the headlines due to Combs’ legal troubles.
The businessman and producer is facing charges in the Southern District of New York of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation for prostitution, which could bring him life in prison if convicted. He has pleaded not guilty.
In a statement, Porter’s children wrote: “We have seen so many hurtful and false rumors circulating about our parents, Kim Porter and Sean Combs’ relationship, and the tragic death of our mother, and we feel we must speak out.”
“The allegation that our mother wrote the book is completely false; she did not write it,” the statement continued. “Anyone claiming to have the manuscript is misrepresenting themselves.”
Porter’s self-published memoir, “Kim’s Lost Words: A Journey to Justice from the Other Side,” is an Amazon bestseller.
There has been debate on social media about the cause of Mr Porter’s death, with his children refuting speculation, saying they are “devastated” by the loss.
“It has been extremely difficult to accept that she was taken from us so soon,” they said in a statement. “The cause of her death was determined long ago. There was no criminal activity.”
They also criticized those they say are spreading false information.
“We are deeply saddened that the world has made a spectacle of the most tragic event of our lives,” they added. “Our mother should be remembered as a beautiful, strong, kind and loving woman. Her memory should not be tarnished by terrifying conspiracy theories.”
The siblings did not comment on their father’s legal troubles.
Combs and Porter dated on and off from 1994 to 2007, during which they had a son and twin daughters. Combs helped Porter raise Brown, his daughter with singer Al B. Sure.
