We spoke to Jordan and James Cracknell, who recently celebrated their third wedding anniversary. The two met while studying as MBA students at Cambridge University. Jordan, a New Yorker, had no idea at the time that James was an Olympian and two-time gold medalist, but he moved to London after completing his studies.
The pair now live in London, sharing a home with their three dogs and James’ stepchildren, and between recently running for local MPs and Jordan writing a charity children’s book. My husband and I love enjoying nature together and rowing boats.
car of my choice
Jordan: My favorite car is the Honda-E. Its small size makes it ideal for narrow roads and tight parking spaces. It costs just 1 cent to power up and the charge lasts forever. Plus, it’s a cheerful blue car in a sea of monochrome colors.
James: It’s not a car, it’s a motorcycle. The Honda RVF750R RC45 was produced as a road bike for the Superbike World Championship and was produced for only one year (1994-1995). I had just passed my bicycle test and dreamed of owning a bicycle.
my favorite vacation destination
Jordan: Watch Hill, Rhode Island. There’s a reason Taylor Swift bought a house here. Because the beaches and the city are amazing. After a day on the gorgeous sea, you can enjoy some delicious ice cream and shop at some of the amazing boutiques.
James: Manhattan. I’ve been there before, but I felt like I was missing out on the real New York. This time I decided to hire my own personal tour guide who lived there until I came across some suspicious British people.
My gadget I can’t live without
Jordan: That would be my cell phone. I use it for everything from keeping in touch with friends around the world, managing work, navigating maps, setting alarms, and more.
James: Glasses. They have literally changed the way I see the world over the past year.
my favorite fashion brand
Jordan: Prada. Always offering timeless clothing and accessories. Their minimalism and clean lines provide versatility, making the pieces a timeless investment despite their cost.
James: G-Star Raw. Maybe I’m built like a Dutch person, but I think their clothes look good on me and their style suits me.
my airline of choice
Jordan Cracknell: JetBlue. They’re fun and funky and fly from London to different parts of America. In addition, the attractive gimmick is that blue potato chips are also provided.
James Cracknell: Air New Zealand. They were great throughout the very long journey.
my favorite watch brand
Jordan: I would choose a Cartier tank watch. A classic, high-quality accessory worn by icons such as Jackie Kennedy and Princess Diana. It is both elegant and durable.
James: G-Shock. It’s nice, unbreakable and has no chance of attracting unnecessary attention.
my favorite restaurant
Jordan: John’s on 12th Street, New York. Great friendly staff, comfortable tables, and hearty food without breaking the bank. Their garlic bread is just perfect.
James: Half Moon Cafe on Fulham Palace Road. When you visit, you’ll understand why.
my guilty pleasure
Jordan: French fries with mayonnaise. This is a very delicious and luxurious dish. Really delicious fries with mayonnaise are second to none.
James: Half Moon Cafe.
my favorite way to give back
Jordan: I am passionate about encouraging more women to enter the financial industry. My children’s book, You Can Count on Penny, features a young fox who chases his dreams and becomes a role model for young girls. With a vision to inspire children, all proceeds go to education and employers.
James: I’m vice president of Headway, the Brain Injury Association. The work that charities and their volunteers do for individuals and their families is invaluable and extremely rewarding.
