Rapper Megan Thee Stallion is scheduled to perform at Vice President Kamala Harris’ rally in Atlanta on Tuesday, joining a growing list of celebrities endorsing the Democratic nominee, according to a Harris campaign source confirmed to Newsweek.
Kevin Munoz of the Harris campaign announced on social media that Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, would be with Harris at her first Georgia event since running for president. Billboard first reported that Stallion would be making a “special performance” at the rally.
Democrats quickly backed Harris after President Joe Biden announced a little over a week ago that he was dropping out of the 2024 presidential race. Harris has also garnered endorsements from several pop culture stars, including British artist Charli XCX, whose latest album, “Brat,” has become a branding tool for the vice president’s campaign.
Other celebrities who have voiced their support early in Harris’ campaign include singer and actress Demi Lovato, singer-songwriter John Legend, American actor George Clooney and Star Wars icon Mark Hamill. The vice president also received permission from Grammy Award-winning artist Beyonce to use her song “Freedom” at his first rally in Wisconsin last week.

Harris has also not lacked for support from party leaders. Within the first 48 hours of her launching her candidacy, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi all endorsed her. Former President Barack Obama also endorsed Harris over the weekend, along with his wife, former first lady Michelle Obama.
Former president and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump saw a string of celebrities show their support for his reelection campaign at the Republican National Convention this month, with model and rapper Amber Rose delivering an impassioned speech in support of Trump on the first day of the convention, and singer and rapper Kid Rock performing his hit “American Bad Ass” before the former president’s keynote speech on the event’s final day.
Newsweek reached out to the Trump campaign via email for comment on plans for Harris’ Tuesday rally.
Harris’ momentum is helping Democrats close the gap on Trump and Republicans in national polls. Voter surveys also show the former president’s lead narrowing in key battleground states like Georgia, which Biden reversed by beating Trump in the 2020 election. A recent poll by Landmark Communications found that Trump trails Harris by 1.3 percentage points (48 percent to 46.7 percent) in a hypothetical head-to-head poll of Peach State voters. When other candidates are included, Trump beat Harris by 1.5 points (45.8 percent to 44.3 percent).
A separate poll conducted by Emerson College and The Hill last week showed Trump leading Harris by 2 percentage points in Georgia, within the poll’s margin of error of 3.4 points. The lead was a notable improvement from Biden’s performance against Trump in Georgia. Another poll conducted by Emerson College and The Hill earlier this month found the president trailing by 5 percentage points.
