Former Reform UK deputy leader Ben Habib has explained that he has no plans to move to the Conservative Party despite being demoted from his Reform role.
The party announced the parliamentary roles that MPs would take on last month after leader Nigel Farage claimed he was looking to “professionalise” the party.
Last week, Habib caused an uproar online when he tweeted that he would not be speaking at the September conference.
He wrote: “I am 100% committed to fighting for a proud, independent, sovereign and prosperous Britain. That is the only thing that matters.”
Ben Habib was once the party’s deputy leader.

He told GB News: “I have no role in Reform UK. I was the deputy leader of the party.”
“Richard Tice and I spearheaded the party. We went from 6% support in the polls to 16% when Nigel returned as leader. We built the party.”
Latest developments:
“We spearheaded the movement that generated the 4 million votes we won in the last election.
“Millions more people would have voted for us if they weren’t afraid of a Starmer government and the fragmentation of the vote.”
“It is my duty and what I feel is important is that the people who have led these people to the top of the hill, like myself and Richard, don’t let them down.
“When they voted to leave the EU in the 2019 general election, Boris promised to deliver our Brexit, but they have been let down time and time again since then as he and his Cabinet have created the horror storm that has engulfed the country.”

“Leadership and whether I have leadership or not is an academic issue.
“I’m going to fight to advance and keep the promises that we made to the 4.1 million people that voted for us and the millions more who will support us if we keep those promises. That’s my goal.”
GB News presenter Bev Turner then asked him if he had any intention of switching to the Conservative party, to which he replied: “I have no intention of switching.”
“I’m not moving to the Conservative Party, whose leadership, by the way, I think is crucial for the country,” Habib explained.
Ben Habib says he will not defect
“I wanted to destroy the Conservative party, but there is not a single Conservative MP who is untarnished by the failures of the previous government.
“They need a proper leader. They have 124 MPs and, wow, they don’t want one country leading 124 MPs.”
“We need someone who is closer to Reformed values. That’s what we need.”
