LONDON — Mulberry founder Roger Sole is auctioning his personal archive at London-based auction house Drewetts.
The sale will take place on August 7th.
This lot includes luggage pieces that were never produced, original designs and classic pieces from the British brand.
“I’ve been very fortunate to have lived through the last 50 years of fashion and the auction includes everything from samples and one-of-a-kind pieces never shown to the public to tried-and-true favourites,” said Sohl, who worked at the brand for 32 years.
Unique items such as a never-produced Scotch grain ski carrier with tan leather trim will be auctioned, with an estimated value of GBP 160-220, as well as a cream canvas suit carrier and travel bag designed to celebrate Mulberry’s 25th anniversary in 1996.
The auction will feature handbags, luggage, fashion, shoes, accessories, and home decor items, from textiles to furniture, glass, lighting and rugs. Mulberry launched a comprehensive lifestyle collection from the 1980s to the 1990s, including women’s and men’s wear and interior items.
Saul founded the luxury apparel and accessories brand in the ’70s. He formally retired as the company’s president and non-executive director in September 2003.
He sold 4.8 million shares, nearly a third of his holdings in the publicly traded company, to Fidelity Investments.
Mr Sole had been gradually stepping back from the firm’s day-to-day running following a two-year dispute with partners Ong Beng Seng and Christina Ong.
