On Monday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvati’s letter an “admission of guilt” and demanded the Karnataka chief minister’s resignation.
“This letter is an admission of guilt. Instead of sending his (Siddaramaiah’s) resignation, we are writing a letter of redemption,” said Shehzad Poonawalla, national spokesperson for the BJP.
He also alleged that Siddaramaiah’s wife had written to the MUDA chief expressing her intention to return the 14 plots allotted to her “to avoid investigation into the case”.
“If there was no wrongdoing, why bring it back (the site)? That too, when the High Court and Special Court orders were issued, an FIR was registered and an ED case was started,” Poonawalla asked. Ta.
“The indictment letter has come. Corruption has occurred (in the MUDA site allocation). In this, the redemption letter will not work. It is time for Siddaramaiah to resign. He has no moral obligation to continue as Chief Minister. There is no right,” a BJP spokesperson said.
