After five painful years of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure, TDP in alliance with JSP and BJP came to power in the 2024 elections. This was a big victory for the NDA, especially the TDP cadre, who had gone through hell under the YCP government. This is why the 2024 championship is one of the most celebrated events in TDP history.
However, things are slowly starting to take a turn for the worse when it comes to TDP’s social media influence. A section of TDP supporters on social media are particularly dissatisfied with the way the NDA government is being run and are making their voices heard. There are several posts on the NDA grilling him for not taking a tough stance against YCP leaders and officials who were leaning towards him during Jagan’s rule. The issue now seems to have reached CM Chandrababu himself.
According to insider hearsay, CM Babu asked about the negative posts that some TDP leaders are sharing about the NDA government in the Associated Press. He is said to be keeping a close eye on events on social media and is interested in adverse comments made by executives on social platforms.
The hard fact is that some TDP supporters and sympathizers went through hell during YCP’s tenure. Be it due to police interference, local political pressure or economic damage, several TDP leaders were targeted by the YCP group during their time in power.
Now that the NDA government is in power and Chandrababu is the CM chairman, these disfigured cadres have come under heavy criticism against Jagan and his YCP group as Babu himself was tortured in jail for 53 days. I was expecting it to go down.
However, contrary to expectations, Mr. Babu has taken a soft stance. He has made it clear that imposing revenge politics is not his style and has indicated that he will not take any action against Jagan and his group in the foreseeable future.
This has distressed the TDP ecosystem on social media, with them tagging both CM Babu and Nara Lokesh and questioning the lack of iron fist battles against the YCP batch. They are pressuring key TDP figures to take revenge for the political oppression they experienced while the YCP was in power. As a result, the NDA government’s disapproval of corrective measures against the YCP was largely expressed.
The gravity of the issue is such that CM Chandrababu himself inquired about the same. Now that the CM knows what the lawsuit is about, will he do anything to appease the social media and offline warriors who shed blood and sweat to bring the NDA to power? Only time will tell.
