The Chandrababu Naidu government in Andhra Pradesh, during the previous YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government, gave away 15 acres of prime land in Visakhapatnam to Swamy Swaroopanandendra of Visakha Sarada Peetham at a throwaway price. It has been learned that they have decided to order an investigation into the assignment.
The Vizag seer, who effectively acted like Jagan’s spiritual guru, was facing charges of misusing his influence to make a fortune and amass a huge fortune in Visakhapatnam.
During the Jagan regime, Swaropanandendra submitted a proposal to the government to allot 15 acres of land in Bheemili for the establishment of a Vedic University. Soon, Jagan decided to allot land at Sarada Peetham in Kothabarasa in Bheemili district.
While the current market value of the land allotted to Vizag Swamy was Rs 1.5 billion per acre, Jagan allotted the land at a nominal price of Rs 1 billion per acre. There, land worth 225 million rupees was allotted to the seer at a nominal cost of 1.5 million rupees.
This was a big issue at the time and TDP and BJP leaders at that time were shouting at the top of their voices, but the Jagan government did not heed the criticism.
In fact, officials had suggested to Mr. Jagan at the time that the government could demand Rs 22 billion for the land instead of Rs 1.5 million, but he refused to listen.
However, what came as a shock to everyone was that Swamy had written a letter to the government to allow Sarada Peetham, and not Vedic University, to use the land for commercial purposes other than housing and income purposes.
Now that Naidu has come to power, the problem is back to square one.
The Chief Minister has reportedly ordered a probe into the allotment of land to Vizag Sarada Peetham at such throwaway prices. If the reports are to be believed, the Naidu government may cancel the land allotment to seers in Vizag.
