When it comes to sneakers, this fall has been less monotonous than previous seasons, and I agree. I love the Adidas Samba, but it’s nice to see some new faces. In the past few months alone, we’ve seen retro-inspired basketball shoes, dad sneakers, and even old-school Vans all trending. And thanks to Natalie Portman, I’m ready to add another one to that list.

The actress has been spotted wearing Dior’s understated, chunky black canvas sneakers on multiple occasions, from pairing them with a Cher Horowitz-esque yellow skirt at the Paris Olympics to classic cool with loose jeans and a white T-shirt in New York. Every time she wears them, I look at her shoes and think, “I know you,” because her $950 sneakers look almost identical to the low-top Converse I wore in high school.

From the black canvas to the contrasting white details and soles, her designer shoes are almost exact replicas of that retro sneaker you probably owned. Below, we’ll look at six pairs similar to her platform shoes, including other picks from Converse, Keds on sale, and more.

As we mentioned before, Portman’s Dior sneakers look just like Converse’s classic Chuck Taylors, but they’re actually even more similar to this chunky style from the brand. At just over an inch in height, they’re very subtle, but fans say they still make your legs look longer and make leggings or jeans look flattering than flat sneakers.
Keds Triple Up Sneakers

Keds are a staple when it comes to simple sneakers, so don’t hesitate to grab the Triple Up style, available in eight colors, on sale for $49 on Amazon. While Keds is known for their canvas shoes, these sneakers have a leather design that gives these affordable sneakers a premium feel. Plus, the platform is extra cushioned, with shoppers writing that the shoes are not only comfortable but “supportive as well.”

Javasic’s $45 chunky sneakers are the most affordable way to achieve Portman’s style. Designed to look like leather, they have the same black base, white details, and chunky sole as the star’s shoes. And, according to shoppers, they’re surprisingly comfortable. Someone who’s on their feet “all day at work” swears the sneakers are the secret to pain-free feet. They’re supportive and stylish, so much so that shoppers own three pairs.
Portman’s retro sneakers are a versatile style you’ll want to own this fall, so shop more of her designer-inspired chunky sneakers below.
