Neta is pre-selling three EREV variants of the Neta S Shooting Brake, which has a range of 300 kilometres from its CLTC battery, with the BEV variants scheduled to be launched at a later date.
Neta Auto, a brand owned by Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker Hozon Auto, has begun pre-sales of a shooting brake version of its flagship sedan, the Neta S. The new model will go on sale later this month, with deliveries due to start from next month.
Pre-order prices for the Neta S Shooting Brake start at 175,900 yuan ($24,520), and customers who pay 99 yuan to reserve the model now will receive a 1,000 yuan discount off the purchase price, Neta announced on its social media channels today.
The Neta S Shooting Brake will initially be launched in Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) variant, followed by a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) variant, similar to what will be available when the Neta L SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) is launched.
The Neta S Shooting Brake is available for presale in three EREV variants – 300 Standard, 300 Pro and 300 Max – with starting prices of RMB 175,900, RMB 189,900 and RMB 209,900 respectively.
According to the company, the BEV variant of the Neta S Shooting Brake will be built on an 800V high-voltage platform that supports a 5C charging multiplier.
The dimensions of this model are 4,980mm in length, 1,980mm in width, 1,480mm in height and a wheelbase of 2,980mm.
All three EREV variants are powered by Neta’s Haozhi 2.0 EREV system and come standard with a 43.88 kWh capacity battery pack.
According to Neta’s announcement, all three models will boast a CLTC battery range of 300 kilometers and can travel 1,200 kilometers on a full tank of fuel and a full charge.
According to Neta, the Neta S Shooting Brake comes as standard with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a peak output of 200kW, but no 0-100km/h acceleration time has been revealed.
According to Neta, the model’s cockpit is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155P chip that supports an AI (artificial intelligence) voice system.
The two lower-priced models of the Neta S Shooting Brake EREV are fitted with the Neta AD driving assistance system, which uses the Journey 3 chip from local chipmaker Horizon Robotics.
The most expensive model comes equipped with the Neta AD Max driver assistance system, which uses Nvidia’s Orin X chip and also includes Hesai Group’s (NASDAQ: HSAI) AT 128 LiDAR.
The Neta S will be launched on July 31, 2022, and is Neta’s first foray into the mid-luxury market, and will be available in EREV and BEV versions.
On sale now, the 2024 Neta S will go on sale on 31 July 2023 and will be offered in seven versions, including three EREV and four BEV variants, with starting prices ranging from RMB 154,800 to RMB 224,800.
The Net S Shooting Brake will go on sale in August, with mass production shipments starting in September, HOZON CEO Chang Yong said at an event launching the BEV version of the Net L on June 28.
Sedan derivatives are a niche market in China, with only a few Hunt and wagon derivatives sold to date.
Geely’s (NYSE: ZK) first model, the GeeCar 001, is the homegrown automaker’s first foray into the sector and has proven an unexpected success: The model is currently on sale in China starting at RMB 269,000.
Nio launched the ET5 Touring in China on June 15, 2023. It will be priced the same as the regular ET5 sedan, starting at RMB 298,000 including the battery, making it the second local model targeting this segment.
BYD (HKG: 1211; OTCMKTS: BYDDY) also currently has several shooting brake-style models available.
Neta’s current lineup includes the Neta S, Neta GT sports car, Neta L, Neta Aya SUV and Neta X SUV.
According to data released by Neta on August 1, the company delivered 11,015 vehicles in July, up 9.72% from a year earlier and 7.93% from June.
During the January-July period, Neta delivered 64,785 vehicles, down 10.59 percent from the same period last year.
