MAUMELLE, Ark. (KATV) — Maumelle High School prides itself on a rigorous curriculum as well as a wide range of sports, including football, that prepare students for a variety of career paths.
According to Maumelle’s Principal, Dr. Nick Farr, there is something here for every student to help them become well-rounded people and prepared for life.
“You’re getting the total package. It’s not just the social aspect. It’s not just sports. We’re trying to develop academics and that’s really the focus,” Farr said.
Maumelle High School is constantly looking for ways to improve the student experience by focusing on various aspects that put students on the path to success.
“One of our biggest initiatives is advancement through personal determination, which is preparing students for college and careers, but again, not everyone is going to go to college, so look at other fields and then the careers,” Farr says. “So academically, we’re trying to get students who may not go into this particular field, but who want to go into the careers. They want to get a job like welding, they want to go into banking, they want to do something in engineering, something that’s out of the ordinary. We teach architecture,” Dr. Farr says.
The school recently added a new academy through Central Arkansas Water that includes a banking center in partnership with Telco Federal Credit Union and the Academy of Science and Construction.
“I would say our mission is to make sure our students are ready to go to the next level. We don’t just want to educate our students, we want to educate the community. We want to educate the parents.”
“We want to educate everyone, both inside and out, so that everyone understands not only what we offer here, but that their child is prepared to move on to the next level,” Farr said.
We foster an atmosphere of pride in our school where all students have the opportunity to shine.
“Good luck, Hornets,” Farr concluded.
