Nansana National Resistance Movement leaders have called on President Museveni to rule for another 40 years.
They made the call on September 15 during the President’s 80th birthday celebrations at Nansana West 1B, along Kampala-Hoima road, Wakiso District.
The celebration was led by Nansana Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Charles Lwanga, who commended the President for maintaining peace in the country throughout his administration.
“We have seen great changes in many ways, but the most important thing is peace. We had several years of war, but a savior has come and peace is here,” he said.
Lwanga said successive governments had stripped people of their rights until President Museveni opened fire on the presidential palace in 1986.
He pointed to a number of achievements, including the restoration of the Buganda Kingdom, poverty alleviation and infrastructure development.
“God consecrated him and he began the liberation struggle in the 1970s after he completed his studies in Dar es Salaam. It is because we have a democracy that parliament is full of opposition leaders,” Lwanga explained.
Using his birthday party as a catalyst, he mobilised the youth of Nansana to continue his rule for another 40 terms.
Ian Kiyun, an NRM leader in the district organisation, said President Museveni is strong and his vision remains alive.
“He is a visionary leader and we pray that God will give him many more years to serve this country because we still need him,” he said.
Nansana West 1B NRM Chairperson, Tracy Kigli, also echoed the message of giving the President the opportunity to lead the country for another term.
She expressed gratitude to the NRM government for the poverty alleviation programme, saying, “I believe the Ghetto Structural Fund will be beneficial for us and will reduce crime in the area.”
The main birthday celebrations of President Museveni took place at Kijaguzo village, Semto trading centre, Nakaseke district.
