Recognize the importance of lifestyle in determining overall health
We know that our health is in our own hands, and trends such as rising gym memberships, interest in health and fitness programs, and healthy eating indicate that as a society we are gradually realizing that it is better to maintain our health than to try to fix it when it goes awry.
A little encouragement and a fact-check of our progress can be helpful. The latest addition to Chiswick’s health and fitness sector, Omnia Lifestyle is a holistic wellness centre based on Chiswick High Road, offering “an innovative approach to health and wellbeing”. Our mission is simple: to help everyone achieve a better quality of life through meaningful healing.
Omnia Lifetyle focuses on pain relief and management, and offers a range of treatments, testing and lifestyle advice to clients, some of whom are managing chronic illnesses and others who simply want to maintain a healthy body.
“We recently held an open day for gym users in Chiswick which was extremely well received,” general manager Sumana Halder told the Chiswick Calendar.
They use what’s called a “motivational” holistic treatment: they conduct pre- and post-treatment screenings so patients can see how their condition is improving and be motivated to work harder towards improving their overall health.
Located in Chiswick Gate Block, at 598 – 608 Chiswick High Road, the suite of treatment rooms is equipped with high-tech equipment for internal examinations and 3D body scans, a ‘Body Balancer’ (yes, that’s a trade name, so it needs two ‘l’s’) and machines for ‘whole-body photobiomodulation’ to help tissue recovery.
They also offer more traditional Ayurvedic treatments such as massage, herbal medicine and acupuncture.
“I feel great, I feel lighter, I feel taller,” said one customer after his massage with senior masseuse Patrick during my visit. Patrick describes himself as a cross between a physiotherapist and a masseuse, administering deep tissue massages to release knots in sore muscles. For the customer, it definitely worked. He left satisfied, promising to return and even booking a facial for his wife’s birthday.
The centre has five full-time therapists and two part-time consultants, including two medical doctors and an Ayurvedic doctor. Sumana showed me around the centre.
First, she showed me around the internal lab where blood samples were taken for various function tests, including liver, kidney and diabetes tests.
The test analysis is carried out by Examine Me. Omnia Lifestyle will provide feedback on the test results with doctor’s comments. Prices range from £39 to over £200 depending on what you need. A full medical check for men or women costs £159.
The room also has a Thor laser, which is used for red light therapy for musculoskeletal issues such as back, neck, knee pain, etc. The laser improves tissue repair (skin wounds, muscles, tendons, bones, nerves), reduces inflammation, and relieves pain in the areas where the light is applied.

The next stop, down the hallway, is the Styku machine, a 3D body scanner capable of non-invasive full-body scans: clients stand on a slowly rotating circular turntable in front of a 3D camera, which within seconds extracts millions of measurements with an accuracy of 2mm to reconstruct their body in 3D.
The aim is to reveal visceral and subcutaneous fat around the organs, which clients can then use in their weight loss management program – they can literally see the difference in fat loss between sessions, which should theoretically inspire them to try harder.
The center offers targeted diet and exercise regimens for fat loss, and 3D body scanning will also be used for disease risk profiling, including cancer, respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.

Combining ancient and modern technology
The third room contains the “Body Balancer,” which to the untrained eye looks like a snug sleeping bag, but is actually a bodysuit with 24 air chambers that delivers compression therapy. The Body Balancer’s compression garment inflates to deliver a firm or light massage.
This is another non-invasive treatment that offers a range of health benefits, notably increasing lymphatic drainage, reducing water retention and swelling, reducing the appearance of cellulite, improving blood flow for improved skin tone, and promoting detoxification by eliminating metabolic waste.
It is used to relieve painful swelling in the arms and legs caused by lymphedema, which is common in patients recovering from breast cancer surgery.
Next, you move on to the NovoThor machine, which provides a whole-body therapy that reduces inflammation, eases pain, and speeds healing of damaged tissue.

In contrast to all the high-tech gadgets, acupuncture and Ayurvedic techniques have been around for thousands of years.
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine that involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body to promote healing and alleviate a variety of health conditions. Acupuncture has been practiced for thousands of years and is based on the concept of balancing the flow of energy in the body, called “Qi” or “Chi”. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) currently recommends acupuncture as an effective treatment for headaches and chronic pain, and it is used to treat a range of conditions.
Ayurveda, a traditional Indian healing system, uses natural remedies, dietary changes and lifestyle practices to balance the body’s doshas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha). Utilizing herbs, massage, yoga and meditation to restore harmony and health, Ayurveda focuses on treating the root causes of illness to promote overall wellness.
Omnia Lifestyle combines these with lifestyle programs including one-on-one exercise sessions, yoga, tai chi and qi gong, led by qualified therapists dedicated to enhancing physical and mental wellbeing through ancient practices.
The company relocated here from Guildford last year and has been actively promoting what it has to offer Chiswick’s health-conscious residents.
The address is Chiswick Gate, 598-608 Chiswick High Road, London W4 5RT. The telephone number is 0204 515 0000.
