I found myself laughing a little when I zoomed in on a recent photo of Oprah. Not because she was wearing anything unusual or odd, or because what I saw was necessarily funny, but because it was so relatable. The Queen of Queens was spotted in New York after attending the Democratic National Convention, wearing the coolest outfit ever (more on that in a second), the coolest shoes ever, and holding an Apple MacBook between her fingers. Talk about the kind of business nonchalance that makes some people cringe with fear. Don’t you agree?
MacBook Air aside, Oprah’s look also leaned toward business cool, which may indeed be an unexpected choice when talking about “office wear.” That said, “office wear” can be anything you want these days, and Queen O is proof of that. The icon opted for a two-piece track set that wasn’t your average tracksuit. Instead, her tracksuit felt more premium, thanks to the classic pinstripe print, trouser-like pants, and a fluffy blouse that was both classy and sporty (I’m obsessed with that XXL zipper). The kicker? In true Oprah fashion, Oprah opted for the original cool skater shoes. Except, hers were designer and cost about $1,000.

After much searching, I found a pair of sneakers from her designer, Brunello Cucinelli, and I can honestly say they are the best. The low-tops exude an understated, skater-cool vibe, and their multi-fabric outerwear combines knit, suede, and metallic beaded details to create a shoe that is multifaceted. The metallic cap toe adds a modern touch, and shiny materials are still a big trend, while the combination of suede and knit offers breathable elegance. I’m obsessed!
While you can’t buy the exact same sneakers Oprah wore now, I found a lot of low-top sneakers with similar combo designs, like Cariumas, which combine suede and leather, and Dolce Vitas, which are silhouettes that combine different colors and materials. A simple white sneaker, or a black or beige sneaker, is fine, but a shoe that looks different from every angle is very appealing. It draws attention! It’s cool! And it stands out a bit more than a simple one-tone option.
Oprah has inspired me to buy composite sneakers for fall and I’m sure you will be inspired by her too. Check out the similar sneakers I found below. Thanks!
