Complaints about people who feed wild birds. Birds and ducks should not be given human food (such as bread crusts). They will eat it, but it will not provide them with nutrition. When they are full, they stop eating the good stuff (like seeds and bugs).
I want to give a shout out to the amazingly caring employees at Trader Joe’s in Burien. I walk very slowly with a cane and my daughter was walking me to the front door the other day and one of the employees saw me and said “I’ll get the cart” and helped me up the ramp. It was such a thoughtful act. The employees are always so kind and helpful to shoppers. The food is also great.
Complain about grocery stores that don’t even give their employees basic training on how to bag groceries. Common sense dictates that soft fruits, vegetables, and bread should not be placed at the bottom of a bag under heavier foods, and egg cartons should not be placed on their side.
Huge shout out to the woman wearing a Bikini Kill shirt at the Bainbridge Island Safeway. I wanted to run up to her and tell her I just finished reading Rebel Girl by Kathleen Hanna, but I thought that would be too proactive and overly familiar. I’m a Pacific Northwest girl after all. We don’t do that! But I thought her shirt was cool.
Protest the apartment owners who hire landscapers to blow a few dead grass blades out of their driveways and parking lots, using their roaring engines to blast away polluting material that could be cleared in 10 minutes with a broom. Ban these nuisances now.
To all my neighbors in Fremont, a big thank you to you all. The other day my new dog was being abused in ways I can’t describe and he got scared and ran away. Six or seven people stepped up and chased him down. One guy ran over and brought him his bike and some bacon. I can’t thank you enough for all your help.
I get angry at my neighbours who don’t put their emptied trash/recycling/yard waste bins back promptly.
Thank you Seattle Power. A tree fell on our roadway around midnight the other night. Crews arrived around 7am the next morning. The entire tree was removed by 9:30am. They raked up all the leaves and picked up the sawdust. Thank you for your prompt response and thorough, efficient work.
Complaining and raving: A big shout out to the woman who stopped her car at the intersection in Phinney Ridge to let my granddaughter and I cross the road. A big shout out to the 6 cars coming the other way who didn’t stop, and to the 3 drivers who pulled into the center lane to let the woman pass, honking their horns to get them to move out of the way! Finally we were able to cross the road and I waved and thanked her for at least letting pedestrians cross!
