This effort includes the launch of a new program aimed at giving students a head start on careers in the CTAE field.
PEACH COUNTY, Ga. — Peach County Schools has been working all summer to prepare for a smooth start to the new school year.
The initiative includes the launch of new programs aimed at giving students a head start on their careers.
At Peach County High School, educators blend technical and professional skills with academic excellence.
Joseph Hinson works as the school’s vocational education coordinator and workforce development center supervisor, and he said the new workforce development center is scheduled to open this year.
The district has partnered with Central Georgia Tech and local governments to help, and the center will offer courses in welding, cosmetology and early childhood education as part of the district’s Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) program.
“Our community thrives on industries, and those industries need skilled workers,” Hinson said.
He said the courses are designed to meet the needs of local and new entrant industries.
Hinson stressed the urgency of the initiative, saying the course aligns with students’ interests and will speed their entry into the workforce.
“The world is moving at a faster pace,” he says, “and I think these students are well equipped to jump in and get involved in these careers much sooner.”
Hines said all students need is a true passion for the subject.
“There’s something for everyone, it’s just a matter of taking the time to research, study, look at what’s on offer and give some things a chance,” Hinson added.
Additionally, the school is introducing a new graphic design course to its curriculum.
