Home and Away actress Jessica Redmayne had to come clean about her controversial on-screen pregnancy. Redmayne admitted in an Instagram story that while her character, Harper Matheson, is pregnant after a passionate night with Tane Parata (Ethan Brown), she is not pregnant in real life.
She did so in a light-hearted manner, comparing her budding belly to that of Margot Robbie, who was recently shown off, explaining in the caption that she was “trying to be funny.”
“In the latest Home and Away promo it was announced that Harper is pregnant and it has come to my attention that people are wondering if Jessica is pregnant. I know the resemblance between me and Margot is uncanny but no, I am not pregnant,” she told fans.
“If you don’t know what that means, I’m an actor and I’m on Home and Away and my character’s name is Harper and she’s pregnant. My name is Jess and I’m not pregnant. Margot Robbie is pregnant. If you didn’t see it on the news, it was a gag. I was trying to be funny.”

One fan re-shared Jessica’s comments on a Home and Away fan group, saying it was “embarrassing” that fans were constantly asking her if she was pregnant in real life.
“We can’t believe Jessica had to make her own video to explain herself and indirectly embarrass everyone who goes on her Instagram to ask if she’s pregnant or congratulate her,” they wrote.
“When Sophie Dillman’s character Ziggy became pregnant, fans asked if she was pregnant in real life. An actor and her character are two different people. One is real and the other is just a character.”
Many fans echoed the statement, with one commenting: “How dumb… wake up, she’s playing a character, how does anyone live in the real world?”
“Some people are really stupid,” added another.
“Poor Jessica. Some people still can’t tell the difference between this fake show and reality,” a third commented.
“It’s so stupid that some people can’t tell the difference between TV and reality. Honestly, some people need to face reality and know the difference between a character and an actor,” added another.
Tane and Harper’s baby storyline on Home and Away
Yahoo Lifestyle first reported that Harper and Tayne were pregnant back in May, after a fan shared leaked photos of Harper in a fake pregnant guise from the set.
Many are excited about this potential storyline, with many happy that Tane is finally going to become a father, but others are convinced it means both Tane and Harper are leaving the show.
While babies are often welcomed in Summer Bay, the arrival of a new baby often leads to parents travelling abroad.

The birth of baby Grace saw the exits of Tori Morgan (Penny McNamee) and Christian Green (Ditch Davey), while baby Izzy left the Bay with Ziggy Astoni (Sophie Dillman) and Dean Thompson (Patrick O’Connor).
“I bet she’ll be quitting soon. Baby curse. Have a baby on the show and then quit,” one person wrote.
“Great news, the person who gets pregnant and has a baby ends up leaving the show,” another added.
