Let’s raise a glass to Pink and Willow Sage Heart’s latest performance.
The mother-daughter duo took to the stage on Thursday during the fourth and final day of the 2024 Democratic National Convention, held at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
Pink, 44, and Willow, 13, wore matching black outfits, short hair and minimal jewelry, and were joined by three other singers and a guitarist. The two performed an acoustic version of Pink’s 2017 hit, “What About Us.”
After the “So What” artist kicked off the show, she tenderly touched her daughter’s back in encouragement that it was her turn to shine.
Fans flocked to social media to share their admiration for Willow’s talent.
“Her daughter was amazing,” one X user wrote under a video from the Democratic National Convention, while another chimed in: “Incredibly talented! Her daughter is following in her footsteps!”
Rounding out the heartwarming feedback, one person noted Pink’s motherly support, writing, “It was lovely to see her put her arm around Willow’s back encouraging and supporting her. That was a big crowd!”, while another wrote, “That was awesome!!! That was great. Thank you for posting…I’ll play again!”
It’s not unusual for Willow to share the stage with her mother, as the teenager has accompanied her on multiple occasions on Pink’s Summer Carnival tours in 2023 and 2024.
However, Willow has recently taken a break from touring life to pursue her own dreams in the theatre world.
“This weekend’s show was Willow’s final tour performance before she leaves to chase her dreams. I promised I wouldn’t cry,” Pink wrote on Instagram in June, “but I didn’t promise I wouldn’t hyperventilate during the hugs.”
She added: “It’s amazing to watch your children grow up and move away from you, but I am incredibly proud of them – we all are – and I will miss you terribly when you’re gone.”
The footage shows Pink and Willow chatting backstage, with the Grammy winner asking the young star what she plans to do when she gets home.
“I want you to tell me everything. Breaking up with me. Why would you do that?” Pink teased. “What are you going to do when you get home? What are you looking forward to?”
And indeed, Willow has big plans.
She smiled shyly before telling her famous mother that she’d be performing “Bye Bye Birdie.”
Apparently, this was the path Pink and motorcycle enthusiast Carey Hart’s daughter always had in mind.
“You fell in love with Mamma Mia!,” Pink recalled. “I remember when you first came onstage in Mamma Mia! and I was like, ‘Who is that?’ I saw you as such a big girl and your energy was six times your weight and it was incredible. I was blown away.”
Willow even said she dreams of pursuing acting professionally and making it on Broadway.
“You have your own path and you want to live it, and I’m so happy for you,” Pink told her daughter. “In this last recital, I saw a side of you I never knew. It’s so wonderful to watch you grow up and grow away from me.”
And it was a full-circle moment last June when Willow took to the stage with her mother to open for the Summer Carnival Tour.
The “Sober” singer watched in awe as the then 12-year-old Willow belted out the lyrics to their song “Sunshine,” accompanied by a guitarist as Willow finished her performance to thunderous applause from the audience.
Pink continued to shake her head and shrug as if she couldn’t believe Willow’s talent.
Later, Carey, who has seven-year-old son Jameson with Pink, took to Instagram to reveal how he’d thoroughly enjoyed the moment with his wife and daughter.
“Proud of Wills on stage with his mommy @pink!!!!!,” he captioned the Instagram video. “Must be a surreal moment for any mom to be on stage with her little daughter. Looks like the first show of the tour was amazing!!!!!”
