Google is holding an event tomorrow where it will fully reveal the Pixel 9 series and more, but the leaks aren’t stopping just yet. A new post reveals a few more details about Google’s Pixel Buds Pro 2, including the first new form factor for Tensor.
The Pixel Buds Pro 2 have already been leaked, with information including that Google is preparing new colors, that they will use the same case, and that the earbuds themselves will have a new design, including wingtips. There are also reports that the price will increase and the launch will be delayed until September.
But we haven’t heard much about what exactly will change with Google’s new earbuds.
@MysteryLupin helps fill in the gaps with some tidbits about the Pixel Buds Pro 2’s specs, including the arrival of the first-ever Tensor audio chip.
The Tensor A1 will apparently be featured in Google’s new earbuds, enabling “2x the active noise cancellation.” The strength of the ANC was a fairly common complaint about the original Pixel Buds Pro, so it’ll be interesting to see how that changes in the successor. But it’s unclear what else the Tensor A1 will bring to the table.
The Pixel Buds Pro also feature some custom Google chips, but they don’t carry the Tensor branding.
The company also said that the Pixel Buds Pro 2 will “seamlessly connect with your Pixel,” including your smartphone, tablet, and Watch, presumably referring to the Fast Pair and related multi-device features that previously debuted on the Buds Pro.
According to the leak, battery life may be a bit shorter this time around. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are said to last 8 hours on the earbuds and 30 hours in the case. If you’re referring to battery life without ANC enabled, that’s less than 11 hours on the earbuds and 31 hours in the case. The article doesn’t mention anything specific, but that’s because retail sources don’t mention anything specific either. With ANC off, it’s a downgrade. With ANC on, it’s a pretty significant upgrade.
The retail source also touts stabiliser wings that can be “twisted to adjust” and a new Pixel Buds app feature that tracks the volume of your music playback.
Pixel Buds 2 are small, lightweight and comfortable, with twist-adjustable stabilizers that keep your earbuds in place during a workout or adjust them for all-day comfort.
The Pixel Buds app helps you maintain your hearing health by letting you know how loud you’re listening to music over time and letting you know when you need to adjust it.
Google is expected to launch the Pixel Buds Pro 2 tomorrow alongside the Pixel 9 series and Pixel Watch 3. Stay tuned for our full report.
