A royal expert has revealed why Prince Harry is asking King Charles for money.
Royal experts have suggested that Prince Harry could ask King Charles for money if the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix deal falls through. Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have signed multimillion-dollar deals with Netflix to produce a lifestyle series about cooking with the Duchess of Sussex and a series looking behind the scenes in the world of polo with the Duke.
But royal biographer Angela Levin claims the projects won’t get off the ground until “February next year at the earliest.” According to GB News, Levin said: “The documentary is six episodes long and full of grievances and complaints and has been a surprising success, whereas nothing else has been as successful. They’re not really interested in her cooking or Harry’s polo or jam-making. There’s not enough originality. Nothing can be done until February next year at the earliest.”
“Harry will try to extort money from the King.”
When asked if Netflix would renew the deal after Harry and Meghan’s project was delayed, Levin questioned the idea: “Technically, they totally screwed up because they didn’t do it properly. Netflix is fed up and they have plenty of other things they could be doing. So I don’t think Netflix is going to renew the $100,000 and continue,” Levin said.
Host Darren Grimes raised the issue of how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s deal with Spotify fell apart, questioning how the couple would remain “financially independent” if Netflix were to terminate it. “Harry will try to extract some money from the king, I’m not sure, but that may be why they want to come to England now to meet him,” Levin said.
Meghan’s Spotify podcast has not been renewed for a second season, after sources close to the company previously claimed the royal couple had failed to meet the production standards necessary to receive full payment, according to The Wall Street Journal.
