Bill Maher’s Club Random
Director Quentin Tarantino has made a controversial claim about the shooting on the set of “Lust,” saying that while Alec Baldwin isn’t entirely responsible for Halina Hutchins’ death, he is also partially to blame.
The director sat down with Bill Maher on Sunday’s episode of the “Club Random” podcast, and the two discussed the “Lust” shooting, with Bill calling it BS by the prosecutors and Alec denying it.
QT takes a slightly different stance, saying 90% of the blame lies with the weapons maker, Hannah Gutierrez Reid, but the rest of the blame lies with the actors.
Tarantino said he believes actors should check their weapons before using them in a scene to make sure there are no bullets in the barrel and that there are no other problems with the weapon.
It’s worth noting that SAG-AFTRA, the union that represents all working actors, has previously released a statement clarifying that it is not an actor’s responsibility to check for weapons before a scene, and has come out against Quentin here.

As you may know, the manslaughter charge against Baldwin was dismissed by a judge in July after it was revealed that prosecutors had improperly kept evidence related to the case in files, effectively concealing it from Baldwin’s defense team.
The Baldwins subsequently filed a lawsuit against the special prosecutor in the case, Kari Morrissey, and Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza.

BTW…Tarantino and Maher have also voiced their opinions on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but let’s just say they’re not fans.
We’ve reached out to Baldwin’s lawyer regarding Tarantino’s comments but have not yet heard back.
