Rumors have been flying around about a “successor” to the Switch, and now someone else has come forward.
The latest claims about Nintendo’s next-generation hardware come from Ruben Mercado, CEO of video game accessory maker Blade. Mercado recently told Spanish website Vandal’s podcast that the new device is apparently “finished” and “ready” to use.
Additionally, the executive said that Blade already has access to a near-final version of the hardware and believes the new Nintendo system will be released simultaneously worldwide in March or April next year.
The timing of the new system’s release will obviously depend on Nintendo’s financial situation this year, with a potential launch in March if sales don’t meet the company’s expectations, and if results are positive. It is claimed that it could be launched at the beginning of the new financial year in April 2025. .
Mercado also mentioned some other rumors related to the Switch 2, including magnetic Joy-Con controllers. He said there would be a “lock system” in place to keep them locked into the system. The peripheral manufacturer also said that current analog stick covers are not compatible with the new device because the new sticks are different.
This comes from the CEO of an accessory manufacturer, but take it with a grain of salt. And remember, we’re still waiting for Nintendo’s official Switch “successor” announcement – which will take place in the “current fiscal year” ending in March 2025.
Rumors from August suggested that Nintendo’s Switch successor might not arrive before the end of this fiscal year.
