Sabrina Carpenter was startled by fireworks onstage over the weekend, but thankfully the encounter was short-lived.
The “Espresso” singer was headlining at the Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco on Saturday, August 10, when she screamed and stormed off the stage after a stray firework appeared to come very close to her, according to livestream footage of the event.
Carpenter, 25, was dancing when fireworks went off behind her, startling her, screamed and jumped up, then turned around and screamed again, covering her mouth as she ran away from the flying sparks.

“Oh my God!” she screamed as she continued to run from fireworks that were set off on the Golden Gate Park stage.
However, the star appeared to escape the fireworks unscathed, having finished his Outside Lands performance and continuing to post on social media after the festival had finished.
A representative for Carpenter did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Elsewhere in her Bay Area festival performance, Carpenter, who replaced Tyler, the Creator as Saturday’s headliner, gave “Nonsense” a Shakespearean twist on one of the song’s most memorable lines at the end. She also brought out a special guest onstage.
For the outro, she adapted the end of the 2022 song to suit the location where she will be performing, as a man came onstage holding a scroll, which the pop singer read from, teasing her upcoming album, “Short and Sweet.”
“My album’s coming out soon. I’m so excited. My heart’s beating beneath my chest,” she sings with a laugh in the livestream. “Outside the land, it feels like you’re inside me.”
Carpenter also performed onstage with Kacey Musgraves at the festival, performing a surprise duet of Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made for Walkin'” – and video of the performance has now been released.
The Deeper Well musician and the Disney singer appeared in sparkly minidresses as they performed a duet of the 1966 hit.
