Irish actress Saoirse Ronan attended the screening of Sony Pictures Classics & The Cinema Society’s latest film, Outrun, at the Crosby Street Hotel on Monday night. True to her penchant for statement fashion, Saoirse chose unique pieces from Hodakova’s Fall 2024 collection.
Unlike Cate Blanchett’s previous cutlery-based look by Hodakova, Saoirse’s ensemble was less avant-garde in material. Her dress, dubbed the “Inside Out Waxed Jacket Dress,” was exactly what it sounds like: it was made from a waxed jacket. What I especially liked about this look was how thoughtfully it was reimagined. The inside-out jacket design was translated into a halter dress with a silk collar and wrap silhouette, softening the piece’s original utilitarian nature.
I can certainly see where opinions differ on the details. The unusual use of a corduroy collar and otherwise rugged fabric may be a deal breaker for some. But for me, it’s exactly this juxtaposition that elevates the look. The piece represents Ellen Hodakova Larson’s commitment to sustainable fashion in an authentic and fresh way, and in a world that often indulges in glamor, it feels like a bold move. It’s not just about looking good, it’s also about getting your point across.
Saoirse Ronan’s look here is the epitome of eco-friendly fashion meets high-style aesthetics. This is a creative and bold choice that fits well with the industry’s ongoing narrative around sustainability. Saoirse wears a conversation that speaks to the importance of giving clothing a second life, rather than just wearing a dress. It’s not easy to pull it off, but in her typical fashion, Saoirse does it with grace and conviction, pushing the boundaries enough to create a memorable impact.
