Sean “Diddy” Combs appeals a Manhattan judge’s ruling to jail the disgraced hip-hop mogul without bail ahead of his trial on sex trafficking and extortion charges. It’s planned.
Combs, 54, filed a notice of appeal Monday in the Southern District of New York, the first step in her attempt to recover from the assault, according to court documents.
It remains unclear when a formal appeal will actually be filed or when a hearing will be held.
Mr. Combs was arrested on September 16th at a Manhattan hotel and is being held at Brooklyn’s notorious Metropolitan Detention Center. The detention center houses sex offenders R. Kelly and Ghislaine Maxwell, as well as cryptocurrency fraudster Sam Bankman Freed.
Mr. Combs was placed on suicide watch as a “precautionary measure,” but his defense team maintained that he was in good mental health and preparing for the lawsuit.
“He is determined, passionate and focused on his defense,” attorney Mark Agnifilo previously told TMZ.
Mr. Combs has hired two attorneys to join Mr. Agnifilo’s defense. Anthony Rico successfully defended an NYPD police officer accused of killing an unarmed man. and Alexandra Shapiro, who is working on Bankman Freed’s own case.
Prosecutors argued during his first bail hearing that Combs was a “serial abuser and serial disruptor” who told hotel security to cover up an assault on his then-girlfriend, Kathy Ventura. He brought up a 2016 incident in which he attempted to bribe.
Manhattan Federal Magistrate Judge Robin Tarnofsky agreed with prosecutors and remanded Combs to prison.
Combs is accused of masterminding a disturbing orgy he dubbed the “Freak Off.” In this orgy, women were lured into his orbit, drugged, and forced into multi-day marathon sex sessions with male prostitutes.
The drug was used to “make the victim submissive and submissive,” and Combs allegedly filmed the session and masturbated while watching it, according to the federal complaint.
The operation allegedly involved Comms employees who arranged travel for participants, booked hotel rooms where the “freak-off” would be held, and brought in stockpiles of lubricants, chemicals, and extra sheets. There is.
The embattled hip-hop star has also been charged with racketeering conspiracy, fraud and coercion and transportation for the purpose of prostitution, all of which he has pleaded not guilty to.
His next court appearance is scheduled for October 9th.
