One of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s six children has officially dropped “Pitt” from his name.
A Los Angeles judge on Monday granted a petition filed by the former couple’s third daughter to legally change her name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.
She initially filed a petition to have the name change officially approved on May 27, her 18th birthday.
While other Jolie-Pitt children have informally dropped the “Pitt” from their names as well, Shiloh is the first to have a name change officially and legally recognized. Notably, their daughter Vivienne was listed as “Vivienne Jolie” in the program for the Broadway production of “The Outsiders.”
In addition to Shiloh and Vivienne, the former couple have four children together: Maddox, Pax, Zahara and Knox.
The Maleficent actress, who rose to fame in the ’90s, filed to legally drop her father’s surname in 2002 after a reported breakdown in her relationship with him.
Pitt and Jolie were together for 10 years before marrying in 2014. Jolie filed for divorce in 2016 and a judge declared the couple single in 2019, but the divorce case has not been finalized as custody and financial issues remain pending.
The two actors have been involved in lawsuits against each other in recent years over differences over joint ventures and property, including a French winery.
In a 2022 court filing, Jolie alleged that on a plane in 2016, Pitt grabbed her by the head and shook her, then strangled one of their children and punched the other when he tried to protect her.
A representative for Shiloh did not respond to a request for comment.
